Mofuku is traditional Japanese kimono which is worn when you express sadness, for example, at funeral or Houji (Buddhist memorial service). There are two types of them which are black solid color and colored one. The one of Black kimono with black obi is the first formal wear and it is worn at farewell service. It is added the five designs of Mon, family crest undyed in white. Colored Mofuku is solid color kimono which is purple, dark blue or gray etc. It is coordinated with black obi and kimono accessory, bag, Zouri(Japanese sandals) and others. One family crest is designed undyeing in white.
There are no different styles for Formal mourning between married woman and unmarried woman. They wear black kimono with undyed five Mon, family crest, of Hitokoshi-chirimen etc. All parts are unified into black expect han-eriand tabi. The Mofuku for summer uses Ro for fabric. Hiyoku and kasane-eriis never used in the sense that sadness is piled up. Also bag and zouri are black colors.
